INVISIO

JJENCO Completes Distribution Deal With INVISIO Headsets

After nearly one year of effort, JJENCO is pleased to announce that it has completed a comprehensive operating agreement with INVISIO Headsets of Dallas, TX. INVISIO is the US subsidiary of NextLink A/S, a Danish high-tech company, and has been supplying the most advanced miniature in-ear bone conducting microphone headsets for push-to-talk (PTT) military special operations and law enforcement users since 1999.

INVISIO headsets are now available commecially, and are viewed by many as the best headset communications solution for PTT radio users presently available for most applications.

INVISIO bone conduction microphones receive vibrations caused by the voice that are transmitted along the jawbone (mandible) to core conduction bones in the middle ear. Those vibrations are translated directly into speech and transmitted to the radio. This is all accomplished without the need for a conventional acoustic microphone. There are many practical benefits to this approach, most chiefly that the headset provides exceptionally clear speech and DOES NOT transmit ambient noise (operating equipment, crowds, or other noises) that may surround the person speaking.

The headsets also offer integrated hearing protection in four levels (25, 50, 75, and 100%), as well as other options for specialty application, and are compatible with nearly all PTT radios.

As a result of this agreement, JJENCO is now the Principal Sales and Service Agent for the Americas Region in the following market sectors:

  • Petroleum Refining
  • Petrochemical Processing
  • Offshore Energy
  • Government & Utilities
  • Private Security
  • Commercial Applications

In addition, we can provide sales & service for end-users in other global market areas or market segments where no other distributor solution is readily available. Please take a few moments to review our overview presentation on INVISIO headset technology, and contact us for more information or to request a quotation.

Structural Integrity Associates

Structural Integrity Requests Motor Control System Development
Structural Integrity Associates, Inc., Huntersville, NC, has issued a purchase order covering the design, development, and fabrication of custom motor control system to operate a newly designed SI metallurgical sampling device for piping systems.

In addition to designing and building the hardware-based automation control system, JJENCO will also develop the logic software controlling the system. Delivery is expected during 2Qtr 2008.

Duke Requests Fluid Sealing Training
Duke Energy has requested a proposal to provide enhanced fluid sealing training to central office and site engineering personnel from its Catawba, McGuire, and Oconee nuclear stations. The training, to be conducted later this year, will focus on gasketed flange joint assembly and key aspects of effective fluid leak management programs.

The training is being presented as part of Duke's 'Civil Best' continuing education program for engineers, and exemplifies Duke Energy's commitment to continuous improvement in all areas of generating plant operation.

JJENCO to Build Single Tube Test Device for EPRI
The Plant Support Engineering (PSE) program at EPRI has requested that JJENCO provide personnel to fabricate an EPRI Single-Tube Test Device for delivery by EPRI to Calvert Cliffs generating station. The device, developed by EPRI, is designed to assist plant personnel with evaluating the integrity of heat exchanger tubes.

JJENCO Provides Research Analysis to KEPCO/KHNP
Through a subcontract with ESH, LLC, Reston, VA., JJENCO has been asked to provide an independent analysis of selected research results to representatives from Korea Electric Power Corporation and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. The results pertain to plant bolting program development for structural, pressure-boundary, and other types of fasteners. Included in the discussion was a summary of commercial grade item dedication methods as applies to fasteners for nuclear safety-related applications.

JJENCO Leads Japanese Delegation to US Nuclear Plants
As part of ongoing support provided to the Japanese commercial nuclear power industry pertaining to improved anti-terrorism preparedness for their nuclear fleet, JJENCO recently was asked to lead a delegation of senior representatives from the Japanese Nuclear Energy Safety Organization (JNES) and others to visit two US nuclear power stations for the purpose of discussing each plants approach to increasing anti-terrorism preparedness in a post-9/11 world.

In addition to completing arrangements for each site visit, JJENCO coordinated the the activity with appropriate representatives of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Nuclear Energy Institute in Washington, DC. Plants selected to host the visits were Kewaunee station, operated by Dominion Resources near Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Seabrook station, operated by Florida Power & Light Co. near Seabrook, New Hampshire.

JJENCO Introduces New Flange Assembly Demonstration Unit (FADU) For Sale
Since introducing the first Bolted Joint Performance Demonstration Unit (BPDU) in 1995, we have used this concept at more than 60 nuclear power plants worldwide to support the training of thousands of engineers, mechanics, and other personnel in the key concepts related to leak-tight bolted joint assembly for gasketed flanges. Based upon this experience, JJENCO recently incorporated all the lessons learned from conducting past training classes into this new design, starting with a clean sheet of paper.

The result is a lower cost flange assembly demonstration unit (FADU) that is not only more compact and easily manageable to transport and set up, but offers significantly greater functionality and practical operation during training and demonstration activities.

The FADU is comprised of several 'plug-n-play' interchangeable modules to illustrate important assembly considerations for semi-metallic gaskets (spiral-wounds, etc), sheet gaskets, and factors affecting the torque-preload relationship when tightening flange fasteners. In addition, unlike other units on the market, an option to the basic FADU provides the capability for both flange pressurization and elevated temperature operation. Data measures include bolt preload stress, gasket deflection, gasket creep, and nut-factor variables.

The FADU is ideal for illustrating performance differences in gaskets, flange assembly techniques, assembly configurations, and lubricant selection and application for all semi-metallic and sheet gaskets. Data can be collected and stored on a computer, and displayed on a large screen using an LCD projector for classroom settings.

For more information, email JJENCO and ask about our FADU!

TVA Power Service Center Requests Gasketed Joint Training
Tennessee Valley Authority's (TVA) Power Service Center, Muscle Shoals, AL., has requested training on gasketed joint assembly for technicians involved in fossil and hydro power plant maintenance within the TVA system.

Initial training classes are to be completed in January 2008, with additional courses to be completed for TVA craft personnel over the remainder of the year.

Bolting Integrity Program Assistance for Korea Power Engineering
JJENCO has reached an agreement in principle with Korea Power Engineering Company, Inc. (KOPEC) to provide technical support later in 2007 for their assessment of US nuclear plant bolting integrity program compliance with attributes set forth in NRC Standard Review Plan 3.13, Threaded Fasteners.

The work will include selection and assessment of supporting technical documentation for plant bolting integrity programs used by a number of US nuclear power plants. The activity will culminate with organizing and leading a small delegation of KEPCO engineering staff to visit a number of US nuclear power stations for the purpose of technical exchange with plant engineering personnel.

Exelon Requests Program Development Assistance
JJENCO has received a request to provide assistance to Exelon's LaSalle generating station as part of the station's continuous improvement activities. The assistance will initially involve a review of LaSalle's fluid sealing programs and procedures, followed by an assessment to establish the relative effectiveness of the overall program.
